They put prayers on their flags!

I have always been fascinated by the new traditions, cultures, beliefs and reasoning behind them. We went to Sikkim for a 3 days trip. Everywhere I could see these flags in vertical or horizontal form in the same sequence with things written on them. And then the driver told us the story.

They write Budhhist prayers on these flags. When flags flutter due to the wind, these chants are released in the atmosphere. How very fascinating!!! Then I notices the sequence of colors is always same, without any mistake. The guide at the Rumtek Monastry told me that all the colours symbolise 5 elements and their order of existence.

Blue at the top - sky
White is next -air
Fire in the middle - considered the middle element
Green is last but one - trees are just above earth
Yellow the last - earth
