What Joey taught me - F.R.I.E.N.D.S. (2)
Joseph Francis Tribbiani Jr., if I may say, is the least smart of all six characters. He is essentially a kid, simple and not knowing much, not understanding much about the world. But he has his own sets of values and one thing I have learnt from him is to never bend from your values, whatever may be the case. One of his most important principles is to help his friends to any extent possible. Despite being unintelligent, he is a caring and warm person. He thinks of marriage as depressing and yet when he finds out that they are pregnant, he proposes to marry Phoebe and Rachel on separate occasions because he believes that it will be hard for them to raise a child by themselves. He is a big foodie and doesn’t usually share food but when Phoebe (a vegetarian) gets meat cravings because she is pregnant, he gives up meat to compensate for her consumptions so she doesn’t feel guilty of killing extra animals. Joey makes me realise that there should be some values so innate to us that we can’t change them in any situation that arises, even if we have to give up everything else in life.
